Class of 2014-Fort Portal, East Africa

Two Sides of the Same Coin was started in 2011 with 20 caring people who donated $200 each to support a woman entrepreneur in Africa.  The first training took place in 2012 and 21 women graduated from the class with 20 receiving seed money to start or improve their business.  Two years later, 85% of those women are still in business!

We are a grassroots effort.  We believe in community and working to help the betterment of all women owned businesses, in Western Uganda and South Dakota.  Our goal is to support wo/men with training skills, mentors, capital if required, and continuous networking opportunities.

Our model is different as we support a holistic approach to our women.  Anyone can be a success as long as they have an opportunity and a desire.  We stress entrepreneurs should follow their passion, our main focus is for women to figure out what makes them "come alive".

Once they figure out their passion, then we give them the business skills to make that passion a reality.   We define business skills as traditional finance and marketing to keep the business running, yoga to keep our selves alive, creativity including drawing mandalas, and a desire to "pay it forward".  This is just part of our culture at Two Sides.  Nobody tells us to help other women, we just do.  It is the right thing to do.
